Kalle Mattson
In the three short years since Kalle Wainio began writing songs under the pseudonym ‘Kalle Mattson’, the band has grown from a Dylan-influenced solo act into a full-on experimental folk-rock quartet. During the summer of 2008, the band released their self-produced debut EP, Telescope. In early 2009 the band released Whisper Bee, an album that has garnered praise from both Canadian and British music press and earned the band two Northern Ontario Music Award nominations and placement in the Top 100 of the Billboard World Song Contest.
Kalle Mattson has successfully completed multiple Canadian tours and have opened for many notable talents including: The Wooden Sky, Great Bloomers, You Say Party!, The Deep Dark Woods, Fred Eaglesmith, Cuff The Duke, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Elliott Brood, Cowboy Junkies and Blue Rodeo, among many others.
In the summer of 2010 Kalle Mattson recorded their sophomore effort, Anchors with Howie Beck (Feist, Jason Collett, Hayden, Josh Rouse, etc.) at the helm. The album was mastered in Los Angeles by the legendary Bernie Grundman Studios (Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, U2, The Band, Van Morrison, etc), and was released on March 22nd, 2011.
