After a relentlessly busy schedule supporting 2005’s critically-acclaimed LIVE IT OUT—which took the fiery foursome known as Metric everywhere from an opening spot for the Rolling Stones at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, to the stage of 2006’s Coachella Festival, to Canada’s Juno Awards and across Europe, the states and the UK for multiple sold-out tours—the band finally had some down time to think about their much-anticipated fourth album. In the meantime, after countless requests from fans, Last Gang Records officially released Metric’s album GROW UP AND BLOW AWAY, which was recorded in 1999 but nott released until 2007. Nevertheless, the record—which features Haines and Shaw as a two-piece, was sold at early Metric shows and became more widely available through on-line sharing—has been a fan favourite for years.
Metric took a hiatus after touring behind LIVE IT OUT. In 2008, Metric regrouped in Toronto and began work on their next album; Fantasies, which was released in 2009. Metric has seen a meteoric rise in popularity with a broader-based audience in the past few years, and when you see them and hear their orchestrated wall of sound during their live show at Bluesfest, you’ll understand why!
